The Edge of Seventeen is an American comedy-drama film directed and written by Kelly Fremon Craig. The film stars Hailee Steinfeld, Haley Lu Richardson, Blake Jenner, Woody Harrelson, and Kyra Sedgwick. Principal photography began on October 21, 2015, in Vancouver, and ended on December 3, 2015. It premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival on September 18, 2016, and was released on November 18, 2016 by STX Entertainment.
Plot[]
The life of high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld) is already awkward when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson). Nadine now feels more alone than ever, until the unexpected friendship of a thoughtful boy (Hayden Szeto) gives her a glimmer of hope that things might not be so terrible after all. The film also stars Kyra Sedgwick as Nadine's well-meaning but ineffective mother, and Woody Harrelson as Nadine's history teacher, mentor, and reluctant sounding board.
